Warranty Information

Going Above & Beyond Ensuring Peace Of Mind

When it comes to purchasing your new stairlift, you want to be reassured knowing that your stairlift is going to serve you for many years to come. Additionally to that it’s even more reassuring to know that you’re covered in the event of something going wrong.

From 2023, we have changed are warranty service to include even more for our customers! This warranty also backdates for any existing customers who’ve bought a stairlift from January 1st 2023.

All stairlifts sold by Modern Mobility Ltd include both a “Standard Warranty” and as of recently, an additional “Lifetime Warranty”.

Standard Warranty (Covers All Faulty Parts)

Every stairlift we install includes a standard warranty which covers all faulty parts and labour costs in case there’s any issues with your stairlift, for a set period of time. This warranty covers all costs and parts involved for this period of time.

(This excludes neglect to the stairlift or damage caused by a third party.)

  • New Stairlifts: 3 years parts and labour warranty (excluding batteries)
  • Reconditioned Stairlifts: 2 years parts and labour warranty (excluding batteries)

Note: Batteries are a “wear and tear” item, just like tyres on a car would be. So therefore, batteries are not included in the warranty unless it’s deemed they are faulty.

Lifetime Warranty (Covers Major Parts Only)

We are the first Irish stairlift company ever that provides a lifetime warranty on all major parts – on all stairlifts we sell.

By setting this standard, we hope it shows how confident we are in the product we are providing for you. We genuinely hope other stairlift companies follow suit as it benefits you, the customer.

Our lifetime warranty covers all new and reconditioned stairlifts we sell, and covers a range of major parts.

It’s worth noting, the lifetime warranty is designed to cover major failures and not aesthetics or smaller repairs that would normally be chargeable once the standard 2/3 year warranty has ended.

Included Parts

Parts covered under our lifetime warranty are strictly limited to the following major parts:

  • Gearbox & Motor Assembly (All major parts excluding wear and tear items like motor brushes, motor brakes)
  • PCB Boards (Replacement of circuit boards in the event of a failure)
  • Structural Steel / Welded Parts (Drive unit chassis / Seat frame / Footrest)
  • Any other part that would be classed as a major repair cost (€600 upwards)

Excluded Parts

(Not affected by your standard warranty included for the first few years)

  • Minor Parts (Switches / Springs / Keys / Displays / Levers / Motor Brushes etc)
  • Mid Range Parts (Overspeed Governors / Brakes / Rollers / Covers / Plastics)
  • Batteries & Charging Systems
  • Wiring Looms
  • Seat Upholstery

Warranty Exclusions

  • The warranty on the stairlift only covers the original purchaser of the stairlift. This means that the second the lift is sold, moved house, transferred to a new user – it’s deemed invalid. This means when a stairlift is sold or moved onto another property, the lift is no longer covered, unless explicitly agreed by us in writing.
  • If any self repair is attempted on the stairlift without prior authorization by Modern Mobility Ltd, we reserve the right in cases to cancel the remaining warranty on the stairlift.
  • If the stairlift is being neglected by the user, we reserve the right to cancel the warranty or charge for certain parts depending on the circumstances.
  • Commercial customers are excluded for the lifetime warranty if the stairlift is being used by multiple users or go through accelerated wear and tear compared to normal use.
  • Although we don’t force our customers to service their stairlift to maintain their warranty, if we discover a part that is faulty due to something that could be of been prevented, it is therefore excluded from the warranty. For example, if there was a collection of dirt in the gears of the track, which in turn caused the motor to overwork and fail – then we wouldn’t be able to replace this part for free under warranty.

Extended Warranty

Even though you’re covered with out lifetime warranty, this covers major parts only.

So, we also offer the option of extending the initial “standard” warranty that covers every part of the stairlift for the first few years of ownership. We can offer extended warranties to cover 3, 4 or 5 years across all major and minor parts alike, including any labour costs.
