We’ve put together this article to show you the benefits of getting a reconditioned stairlift
Lot’s of people write off the idea of buying a reconditioned or “used” stairlift. Little do people know, reconditioned stairlifts are just as good and can bring massive savings to the person buying it.
Read our in depth article below to find out why…
Why Buying Reconditioned Works
When it comes to purchasing a stairlift, many people are understandably concerned about the cost. A new stairlift can be a significant investment, but at the same time, a reconditioned stairlift can seem like an uncertain choice. At Modern Mobility, we want to help our customers make an informed decision, so we’ve put together this cost comparison between buying a new stairlift and a reconditioned stairlift from our company.
It’s important to note that there are two types of stairlifts: Straight Stairlifts for straight stairs, and Curved Stairlifts that are custom made for your staircase when there are turns in the stairs.
Upfront Cost
The upfront cost of a new straight stairlift from Modern Mobility is €2400 plus VAT, including installation. However, VAT is reclaimable on all stairlifts. In contrast, the upfront cost of a reconditioned straight stairlift is around €1400 plus VAT, also including installation. That’s a savings of €1000 right away! Please note that the cost of a reconditioned stairlift can be higher for a curved stairlift, which starts around €4000 plus VAT. In comparison, a new curved stairlift can start at €6000 plus VAT and upwards.
What is a Reconditioned Stairlift
A reconditioned stairlift is a stairlift that we’ve bought from a customer that was no longer needed. We make sure that the stairlift is in great working order by changing any worn parts, replacing the batteries and making sure the lift is clean. We also service all stairlifts when we install them, ensuring that our customers can feel confident in the reliability of their reconditioned stairlift.
Warranty
All new stairlifts from Modern Mobility come with a 3-year warranty, while reconditioned stairlifts come with a 2-year warranty, fully comprehensive. The industry standard is 2 years on new and only a single 1 year warranty on reconditioned, however we felt that this wasn’t enough so you’ll find we offer the longest warranty in the industry for our products.
Maintenance
All stairlifts require annual maintenance, whether they are new or used. This is to ensure the stairlift is running safely and efficiently. The cost of maintenance is the same for both new and reconditioned stairlifts.
Long-term Cost Savings
Anyone buying a reconditioned stairlift from Modern Mobility can expect significant long-term savings compared to buying a new stairlift. This is because reconditioned stairlifts are significantly cheaper upfront, and their resale value is the same whether the stairlift is a day old or 5 years old.
Safety
All of the stairlifts we sell at Modern Mobility are within all safety regulations. We never offer old models of stairlifts, so you can trust that our reconditioned stairlifts are as safe as new ones.
Conclusion
Purchasing a reconditioned stairlift from Modern Mobility is a budget-friendly alternative to buying new. Our reconditioned stairlifts are in great condition and good to run for many years.
With a savings of €1000 upfront and no difference in resale value vs buying new, buying a reconditioned stairlift is a smart financial decision. Plus, with our comprehensive warranty and annual maintenance service, you can have peace of mind that your reconditioned stairlift will keep you safe and provide you with the independence and mobility you need to navigate your home.
We also have a dedicated after-sales service team which will provide you with comprehensive support throughout the life of your stairlift, including annual maintenance and repairs if necessary.
At Modern Mobility, our goal is to help our customers in Ireland regain their mobility and independence at home, and purchasing a reconditioned stairlift can be a great way to achieve this while also saving money. We hope this cost comparison has been informative and helpful in making a decision that fits your needs and budget.
